National Alliance on Student Loan Debt is made up of dedicated people who care about the plight of student borrowers. We realize firsthand the financial and emotional toll that the student lending system has taken on families, and we are here to offer moral support and education. We want to help you get answers. If we don't know the answer, we will reach out to our vast network and find out. We are that impassioned.

Our Story
National Alliance on Student Loan Debt was born out of the student debt crisis that has negatively impacted 45 million people in every state and territory in the United States. It is also not unique to our country. Our mission was created because of the unique needs of student borrowers and the lack of education about the crisis and peer support that research shows can make a world of difference in people's lives. Everyone involved in our grassroots organization has lived experience with student loans Like you, we have felt alone and abandoned at several points during our painstaking journey. Our unique needs include being held financially hostage by an unforgiving and unfair system. As with other forms of debt, we have no consumer protection. We struggle to understand how people who wanted to better themselves through learning could have their financial freedom ripped away. This life altering problem impacts not only the individual but their families and society as a whole. Our cumulative experience with predatory colleges and the student lending system spans decades and has been the catalyst for change.
